There's no way you can pass up the opportunity to ride on a 60* day
after Christmas!  Meet across the street from the old Y at 10:30 and
we'll do a 40 - 50 mile ride.

Well, the closer to the weekend we get, the better the weather looks.
Its still going to be cold but, no snow or rain in the forecast. Let's meet
across from the old Y at 10:30 and at least go for a short ride. 
 
New Years Eve!  Eddie has invited all of us to come to his house for a
party.  Eddie will furnish the meat and some other goodies.  You and I
will furnish everything else.  If you want to attend, RSVP to me at
sre334@gmail.com   by 12/24/14.  Eddie needs to know how many
folks will be there.  So far only one person has replied.  Get with the
program guys!

NEW YEARS EVE!

New Years Eve at the Casa de Hedrick.  Same format as last year, Eddie

will provide the meat, you and I will provide everything else.

Saturday ride

This weekend looks a little better than last weekend did.  I suggest 
that we combine a ride and an opportunity to support the ALS event
that will be held from noon to three pm at GW.  Meet at the GW
football stadium a little before noon. make a donation to the ALS
support group, then ride for 3 hours.  It'll be the best part of the day.

Saturday does not look good. If you are really brave, meet across from
the old Y at 10:30 and see what it looks like.  I'll be at Cantada Rehearsal
do I'll see you next weekend. 

Friday / Saturday ride

Well, if you can get on the bike after all that turkey, there will be an
'Old Guy's ride' on Friday at noon from Joe Gwynn's house. On Saturday
we'll meet at the lot across form the Old Y at 10:30 and do another
ride, to be determined by the folks that show up. 
I know, its winter time and its cold but, let's do it anyway.

After getting sufficiently stuffed for Thanksgiving you now have an excuse for skipping Black Friday shopping! 

Come on out and join the crowd for the Turkey Fryer 50! 10am at Anglers.  50 mile road bike ride.

low 50's.  Looks like a good day to get out and ride.  Meet across from

the old Y at 10:00 and have a wonderful timel

Sure wish I knew what to suggest for Saturday. It's going to be cold,

low of 25 is forecast.  The high is 45 so, let's try for 10:30 at the Main

St. Y and decide where to go.

To be honest, Saturday does not look to be the greatest day for a ride
with a forecast of snow in the mountain and rain for Danville. In any
event, it the weather cooperates, meet at 9 at the Main St. Y and ride
in winter!

Annual Stew Ride

This upcoming Saturday will feature a beautiful day to ride on the heels of nearly a week of rain and clouds.  And as a special bonus there will be the smell of Fall and stew in the air!  Again this year there will be the opportunity to ride from Eddie's house and enjoy a nice ride followed by delicious Brunswick stew.

The RBGs have an incredibly beautiful 60 mile route that goes over and around Turkey Cock Mountain including what might be the finest cycling road in Pittsylvania county, Circle Creek Road.  With the changing leaves it has the potential to be the prettiest ride of the year.

The anticipated departure time is 8:30AM.  For more information contact any one of the RBGs.

Tour de Habitat

Your choice of a 20, 35 or 60 mile ride beginning at the fountain on Main St.
The Tour de Habitat is back, its your opportunity to support Habitat for
Humanity and to have a  great ride at the same time.  The ride begins at 8:00
with ride day registration at 7:30 at the fountain.
 
Let's all get behind this event, the latest forecast looks like the rain chances
in the morning and early afternoon are fairly low.  Come on out!

Annual Brunswick Stew Ride

On October 18, Eddie Hedrick will be hosting the annual brunswick stew at his house. Traditionally the COD ride starts and ends at Eddie's house where warm stew will be waiting at the end. Hopefully we can plan for a nice, social Fall ride that morning.  We are looking for a volunteer to make sure Malcolm brings warm dry clothes for the post-ride festivities.

According to the weather forecasts, we're in for some big changes this weekend.
Cooler temperatures with lows into the 40's.  So, bundle up and meet at the
Main St. Y at 8:30 and experience a cool weather ride. 
I can't ride this weekend but will be back for the Tour de Habitat next weekend.

According to the weather forecast, Saturday will be the best day of
the long Labor Day Weekend, so let's meet at 8:30 across from the Y
and Ride.  50 - 60 miles seem to be a popular distance, open to other
suggestions if you want to make them.

Tomorrow doesn't look like its going to be one of those perfect days for

a ride but, the rain will probably hold off long enough for us to get in a

If you want to caravan down to Hillsboro on Saturday morning, meet at
Southwyck Plaza on south main at at 6:00, we will depart at 6:10.

good for outdoor activities, unless you are a duck.  Rain, steady in the 

morning with T-storms in the afternoon.

Well, I'm sitting here watching the snow come down with a vengeance.

I can't believe that I'm going to say this...Saturday, if it's not snowing,

raining, sleeting or if the roads are not covered with snow, we'll meet

across from the Y at 10:00 am for a 'Tour d' one lane bridges ride'.  The

forecast is for a high of 63 Saturday afternoon!

weather forecast is for rain all day.  Having said that, I guess the best
thing we can do is to take advantage of any breaks in the weather and
ride if you can.
